Dulina Manning 1806-1891

MANNING, DOUGLAS, BROWN, VANDERWALKER

Died - Friday, November 27, 1891, Mrs. Dulina Manning, at the home of her son, H. D. Manning, in this city, in her 86th year. She was born in Sherize, Lower Canada, in 1806; was the daughter of James and Martha Douglas. She was married to Henry Manning in 1825, two children were born to them in that country; they moved to Upper Canada in 1828 to the town of Middlesext, London district; five children were born to them while living there. In 1840 they moved to Winnebago county, Illinois, here three children were born to them. In 1846 her husband died leaving her in charge of nine children, six of whom are still living. They are H. D. Manning of Oelwein; J. R. Manning of Independence; Mrs. Althea Brown of Ellis, Nebraska; Mrs. Caroline Vanderwalker of Fullerton, Nebraska; J. H. Manning of Alexander, Minnesota and R. B. Manning of Sheridan, Missouri. In 1864 she moved to Fayette county, Iowa with her son, Henry, where she resided until the time of her death. She was a member of the Presbyterian church. The deceased was a kind, amiable woman, respected and esteemed by all. The funeral services were held at the residence of her H. D. Manning, Sunday afternoon being conducted by Rev. Robertson. J. H. Manning and daughter of Minnesota and J. R. Manning and family of Independence, were present at the funeral services. The friends of the bereaved relatives deeply sympathize with them in their sorrow.
