Funeral services for Rudolph Roepke, 72, a lifelong Hazelton resident, have seen set for 2 p.m. Saturday in the Brant-Kerns Chapel, Oelwein. Roepke, a retired laborer, died early this morning (Wednesday) at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo.
The Rev. LaVerne Streich will officiate at the services. Burial will be in the Hazelton cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Edna; sons James and Paul, both of Hazelton; daughters Mrs. John (Gladys) Higgins, Aurora, Mrs. Dorothy Van Heiden, Hazelton, Mrs. Roger(Thelma) Duckett, Stanley, Mrs. Rhea (Elaine) Rockwood, Janesville, Wis., Mrs. Gene (Marilyn) Medberry, Elgin, Mrs. Judy Crandall, Hiawatha, and Mrs. Ken (Alice) Perrah, Bonaparte, Calif.
Also surviving are sisters Mrs. Will Wells, Hiawatha, and Mrs. Fred Clendenen, Oelwein;
brother Richard Roepke, Colesburg; sister-in-law Mrs. Arnold Roepke, Oelwein; 36 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, one daughter, five grandchildren, one sister and three brothers.
Roepke, who served with the U.S. Navy in World War II, was a member of the Zion American Lutheran Church and the Friar-Watson Post of the American Legion in Hazelton.
