William B. Hitch d. 1957 at age 38

SUMNER (Special) — Funeral services are pending for William B. Hitch, 38, Sumner instrumental
music instructor and band director the past eight years, who was killed in a two car collision five
miles southeast of Waukon on Highway 51 Friday night. Hitch's death was one of the first two traffic deaths of the Labor Day weekend in Iowa.

Injured in the mishap and hospitalized at Waukon are Hiram Olson, West Union, who was riding with Hitch, reported in serious condition, and David Ewing, about 20, of near Waukon. Hitch and Olson,
were on a fishing trip when the accident occurred.

He is survived by his wife, the former Anna Yauslin of Clermont, and two children, Carolyn, 13, and Leslie; 9. Also his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. L. D. Hitch, and a sister, Wilma Hitch, all of Elgin.

Services will be held in Sumner with Schutte Funeral Home at Postville, where the body lies in state, in charge of arrangements.
