The Christmas season brought sorrow
as well as gladness to many hearts here
owing to the death of Miss Lottie
Hughson. She was born in Sodus Village,
N. Y., February 7, 1849; with her
parents came to Maynard in 1885; died
at the home of her sister, Mrs. J. B.
Day, Dec. 23rd, 1898. Funeral services
were held at the M. E. chnrch, on Monday,
Dec. 26th and largely attended
Relatives were present from Oelwein
Hazleton and Independence. Rev.
Blodgett spoke with much feeling from
the words—"But some have fallen
asleep," Burial was at Otsego, where
many of her relatives lie sleeping
Though frail in body, her life was filled
with good works and she will be sadly
missed in the church and Sunday
school, where she was a regular attendant
when health permitted. Much
sympathy is felt for the bereaved ones.
