Frank J. Rogge 1882-1938

Frank J. Rogge, the youngest son of Frank
and Barbara Rogge was born at St. Paul,
Minnesota on April 12, 1882 and passed away
at Mercy Hospital at Oelwein December 10,
1938 at the age of 56 years, seven months
and 28 days.
Frank came to Oelwein in 1899 and served
his apprenticeship as machinist in the
Oelwein shops. After completing his
apprenticeship he traveled and worked various
places in the west returning to Oelwein in
1920 where he secured a position in the
C.G.W. shops and remained an employee until
the date of his death.
On June 12, 1923 he was united in marriage
to Violet Bevan Tarr and to this union one
son John Edward was born, who with the
loving wife, a step-daughter, Mrs. Nellie
Crandall and two brothers, Mike and Nick
Rogge, all of Oelwein, and a host of nephews
and nieces, other relatives and host of
friends are left to mourn his death.
Frank was a man of sterling qualities and
an expert mechanic and always willing to
lend a hand to a friend or neighbor and will
be greatly missed by all who knew him.
