Effie Ada Manning, youngest
daughter of Samuel and Sarah
(McLachlan) Manning was born
Jan. 25, 1880 on a farm two miles
south of Stanley, and after a lingering
illness died Saturday evening,
Nov. 13, 1954 at the age of
74 years, nine months and 19 days.
When two years of age she
moved with her parents to a farm
one mile north of Stanley, where
she grew to womanhood. In 1899
the Manning family settled in
Stanley and since that time she had
occupied the same home.
On March 11, 1894 she united with
the Union church. During the past 60
years she served in several official
capacities of the church. At the time
of her death she was also chairman of
the missionary committee.
Deceased, besides her parents are
her sister Sadie (Mrs. Alexander)
Campbell and her brother Johnie.
Surviving are a nephew and three
neices, John Campbell, Atlanta, Ga.;
Mabel and Marion Campbell, Stanley
and Mrs. Elton Bly, Waterloo.
Casket bearers were Robert Wharram,
Frank Brownell, Leonard Day, Franklin
Verslius, Edwin Davidson and Emory
Hillman. Interment was in the family
lot at Otsego cemetery.
