Saturday, September 7, 1907 occurred the death of Mrs. John Rechkemmer, aged 81 years, 3 months and 28 days. The deceased was born May 9, 1826, in Neipperg, kingdom of Wurtenburg. On the 26th day of April 1840, she was confirmed. Mrs. Rechkemmer was one of our oldest settlers and a lady highly esteemed. She was the mother of ten children, of whom seven are now living, William P., John F., Phillip H., all residing here; Mrs. John Beecher of Oelwein; Mrs. O. Leonard and Katie of Fairbank, and Mrs. Henry of Washington. Her aged husband also survives. A loving wife and most affectionate mother is gone. Her funeral was largely attended Monday at 10:30 am and was held at the German Lutheran church, of which the deceased was a devout member.
