RONNA MARGARET SLATER

Ronna Margaret Slater, 52, Brookfield, Mo, died unexpectedly Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, at Pershing Memorial Hospital, Brookfield.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, at Rhodes Funeral Home, Brookfield, with Rev. Dallas Williams officiating. Burial was held today, Dec. 23, 2002, in Union Cemetery, Sumner, IA with Rev. Joe Pritchett officiating. Pallbearers were Jeffery, Terry and Rugene Leyh and Darrell, Dennis and Harvey Schneider. Honorary pallbearers were Leonard and Benjamin Rolfes.

Ronna was born Aug. 29, 1950, in Sioux City, Iowa, daughter of Alfred and Frances Ohl Leyh. She married Stephen Slater, May 1, 1971, at Union Church, Sumner, Iowa.

She attended country school until fourth grade when she began attending Sumner School where she graduated in 1968. After graduation she spent one year in the hospital as missionary in Osaka, Japan. She then moved to Brookfield and attended Vocational School where she received her Practical Nursing License. In 1970, she began working for Pershing Memorial Hospital while attending school. She was employed there until her death. She received her 30 years service award from Pershing Memorial Hospital in 2000.

Survivors include one son and daughter in law, Wyman and Nina Slater, Brookfield; one daughter, Stephanie, Brookfield; four grandchildren, Zachery and Amanda Slater, and Marcus and Jenna, Brookfield; two brothers, Orval Leyh, Sumner, Iowa, and Rugene Leyh, Oelwein, Iowa; two sisters, Gloria Schneider, Reedsburg, Wisc., and Colleen Rolfes, LeMars, Iowa; and several nieces, nephews and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
