Albert Grant Brownell, son of
Horace and Judy Brownell, was born
in LaFayette county, Wisconsin, February
26, 1862 and was accidentally
killed near Stanley, Iowa on the morning
of July 25, 1914, aged fifty-two
years, five mouths and two days.
When a small boy he came with his
parents to Independence, Iowa, and
from there to a farm just north of
Stanley where he grew to manhood
and where he brought his bride; Emma
Mettlin, October 5, 1887. On this
farm they made their home and there
were born four-children—Aura,.Harry,
Byrd and Horace—Little Myrtle blessing
the home in Minnesota where
they moved in 1901. Aura and Horace
died in infancy and Mrs. Brownell
died in Minnesota in November, 1906.
For the past eight years the family
has been located in various places,
little Myrtle residing in the Henry
Brinnacombe home, ever a lode stone
drawing the family together occasionally.
But the father knew no abiding
place until he was called early on
the morning of July 25th. Suddenly
without warning he was stricken, by
an accident while employed in assisting
in the installation of a pump on
a farm near Stanley.
Mr. Brownell was a charter member
of the Stanley Union church and his
life was that of a consistent follower
of the Nazarene. Funeral services
wore held from that church July 29th
conducted by the Rev. R. H. Boteler.
The text for the. discourse was Rev.
X IV 13. The two sons and little daughter
and ay large number of relatives
and friends were in attendance to
show their love and respect for the
man whose sudden taking off was
mourned. Interment followed in the
Otsego cemetery. He was a good man
and has gone to his reward.
