Clarence Joseph Kelley (1902-1938)

Clarence Joseph, son of Frank
and Ellen Kelley, was born in
Elma, Iowa, March 27th, 1902 and
passed away, Tuesday, June 7th,
1938 at Santa Monica, California,
at the age of 36 years, two months,
and ten days. He suffered serious
injuries in an automobile accident
and died on the way to the
hospital.
In 1907 his parents moved to
Oelwein, Iowa, where he grew to
manhood, attending the parochial
and public schools. He served
his time as machinist apprentice
for the Chicago Great Western
R. R. Company and continued in
their employ until 1932. For two
years he was: proprietor of the
Smoke Shop on South Frederick
Avenue.
On August 7th, 1935, he was
united in marriage to Miss Dorothey
Webster. To this union was
born a daughter, Sandra Kay.
They made their home in Maywood,
California, where he was
employed by the Bethlehem Steel
Corporation.
He leaves to mourn his sudden
and untimely death, his wife,
daughter, mother, Mrs. H. W.
Donovan and one sister Anamae
Gordon.
The funeral was held at Sacred
Heart Church Monday morning,
June 13. Requiem High Mass was
celebrated by Rev. E. J. O'Hagen.
Burial in Woodlawn cemetery.
