MRS. OTTO (Sophie Ellen Reinertson) VASBY

Funeral services for Sophie Vasby were held Tuesday, Oct. 27, 1981 at 1:30 p.m. at the West Clermont Lutheran Church in Clermont. The Rev. Allan J. Stoa officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in God's Acres Cemetery, Clermont.

Sophie Ellen Vasby, daughter of Nels and Korena (Houseland) Reinertson, was born December 3, 1899 in Fayette County. She passed away October 24, 1981 at Palmer Memorial Hospital, West Union.

She spent her early years on a farm near Eldorado and attended a rural school near there. May 30, 1920 she was united in marriage to Otto Vasby of Clermont. To this union two children were born.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband who died in 1962, a brother, Selmer, two sisters, Laura and Anna, and a great grandson, Shawn.

Surviving are a son, Ray of Baltimore, MD, a daughter, Norma Riley of Cedar Rapids, Ten grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, three brothers: Norman Reinertson of Arizona; Lawrence and Paul Reinertson of Wisconsin and two sisters: Pauline Parrish of Cedar Rapids, and Clara Kleppe of West Union.

She was an active member of the West Clermont Lutheran Church and it's Women's Association, and the American Legion Auxiliary.
