Died -- The funeral services of L. O. Hillman of Stanley, who died the Wednesday before, was held last Saturday. A very large concourse of his old neighbors and friends attended and thus testified of their respect and esteem for one who had so long lived among them. Mr. Hillman was born in Ohio in 1823 and was 69 years, 3 months and 29 days old at the time of his death. He was married in 1850 to Miss Eliza Coats, in Indiana, and their union was blessed with nine children, five sons and four daughters, all whom were present at the funeral except two. The remains were interred in the Otsego Cemetery. Mr. Hillman came to Iowa in 1856, and settled within half a mile of the present village of Stanley, and resided there until 1891 when he moved into the village. He endured all the privations of pioneer life but lived to see the fruit of his labors crowned with success and the country dotted over with fertile farms and prosperous cities and towns. He leaves a fond wife, affectionate children and a very large circle of relatives and near friends in Oelwein, Hazleton, Stanley and vicinity to mourn his loss.
