Mrs. Minnie Lenius, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Lauck was born December 27th at the Lauck farm home five miles west of Oelwein and passed away Thursday afternoon, July 19, at 3:30 o'clock at the home three and one half miles northwest of Oelwein, aged 63 years, 6 months and 22 days.

She was baptized in early infancy and at the age of fourteen years was confirmed in the Lutheran church by Pastor Wm. Adix of Buck Creek. She was united in marriage in 1890 to Theodore Lenius to whom she was ever a devoted wife and faithful companion, sharing with him life's joys and sorrows. The first three years of their wedded life they lived on what is now the home place, then moved to Howard county, where they lived six years some seven miles north of Elma, after which they returned to the place they had formerly occupied near Oelwein and, with the exception of a short time when they lived in Oelwein, she spent the remaining days of her life here.

For somewhat over a year her health has been impaired and she who had always worked so hard had to endure days of inactivity. She returned from Rochester, Minnesota and for a time seemed to improve. When her strength did not return she still remained cheerful and hopeful. She was very patient in her affliction and felt assured of divine blessings even as the body grew weaker. During the month of June she enjoyed a visit of her two sisters from Portland, Oregon.

She leaves to mourn her departure, with the husband, her five children; Mathilda Brosseau of Kansas City, Missouri; Gertrude Bergom and Ella Beem of Waterloo; Arthur Lenius of Oelwein and Theodore Lenius Jr., living one mile west of the home place. One son John, preceded the mother in death on March 15, 1930, at the age of 28 years. She leaves also six grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters; August Lauck of Elma; John Lauck of Alta Vista; Fred Lauck of Elma; Albert Lauck of Oelwein; Mrs. Anna Perkins and Mrs. Rose Hodges, both sisters from Portland, Oregon.

The funeral service for Mrs. Lenius was held Sunday afternoon at the Lutheran church, after a short service at the home. Interment was made in Woodlawn cemetery.
