Philip Henry Wolfe

Philip Wolfe, 61, who died in a Rochester, Minn., hospital early Thanksgiving day, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday from Bethel Presbyterian church, with Rev. G.W. Ukena officiating. Internment was in West Union Cemetery.
Philip Henry Wolfe, son of Charles and Anna Trapp Wolfe, was born Sept. 4, 1892, north of Eldorado in Winnesheik county. He was baptized Sept. 25, 1892, and confirmed April 12, 1908 in the Lutheran church of Eldorado.
At the age of seven he moved with his parents to the parents to the farm south of Eldorado known as the Wolfe home farm. Here he grew to manhood, attending the rural schools of Dover township.
On Feb. 26, 1919, he was united in marriage with Ella Baumgartner. One daughter was born to them. Mr. and Mrs. Wolfe resided on the home farm until 1950 when due to his health, they retired from farming and moved to West Union.
Mr. Wolfe united with Bethel Presbyterian church of West Union on Oct. 7, 1922. He served on the Board of Trustees for a number of years, and for a time was president of that board. In 1935, he was elected to the highest office in the Presbyterian church, and on April 14, 1935, was ordained as an elder, a position he held until his death.
He was active in Farm Bureau work, served as director of the rural school in his district, was twice elected to the Board of Supervisors of Fayette county in 1948 and again in 1951.
His last illness began about ten days ago. He entered Palmer Memorial hospital on Nov. 23, and was taken to Rochester, Minn., Nov. 25, where his death occurred at 7:30 a.m., Thursday.
He is survived by his wife and daughter, Darlene, Mrs. Wayne Granger;, a granddaughter, Janelyn Granger; three sisters, Mrs. Rosie Fels, West Union; Mrs. Elizabeth Koester, Eldorado, Carrie, Mrs. George Wagner, Kerrick, Min. His parents and sister preceded him in death.
