James A. Sherrill, 78, for many years a resident of Waterloo, passed away at 6:30 Friday morning following a day's illness of cerebral hemorrhage at the home of his son, E. D. Sherrill, superintendent of schools at Liscomb. Mr. Sherill has been making his home with his daughter Mrs. G. E. Richard of Waterloo for the last eighteen years, except for the last year which he spent visiting at the homes of his children. He had been with his son at Liscomb the last month. Mr. Sherrill was born April 8, 1853 near Belmond, Wisconsin where he spent the early part of his life. He came to Iowa, settling near Stanley, where he lived until 1907 when he moved to Waterloo. He married Miss Trypheuna Manning February 14, 1879. He is survived by seven children; Artemus L. Sherril of Chicago; Stanley and George Sherril of Waterloo; Elmer D. Sherril of Liscomb; Mrs. G. E. Richards of Waterloo; Mrs. Albert Duncan of Laudean, South Dakota and Mrs. A. N. Stimson of Lajord, Sask. Canada. A brother Hugh Sherril of Boulder, Colorado also survives. Mr. Sherril was a member of the First Methodist church of Waterloo. The pall bears were his four sons and two son-in-laws, G. E. Richards and Albert Duncan. He was laid to rest in the Otsego Cemetery.
