Funeral services were held at the First Methodist Church with the Rev. Howard Johnson of LaPorte City officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill cemetery north of Fayette.

Julia Ann Stepp was born December 13, 1857, on a farm about two and a half miles north of Fayette, the daughter of Thomas and Sara Tann Graham. She received her education at the rural school.

In 1897* she became the bride of James Howard. The couple had two daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Lavon Marker of Lakewood, Ohio and Mrs. Edith Sullivan of West Union. Mr. Howard died in 1886. Later on she married James Stepp of Carroll, Illinois. They established their home on farm north of Fayette where they lived until his death in 1924.

The Stepps had four sons, Eli, Luther, Jesse and Attrus. Jesse lives in San Jose, California, Luther in Vinton and Attrus, north of Fayette.

Survivors include her three sons and two daughters, 17 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

For the past few months she had resided with her son Luther in Vinton, where she died at 7 am April 20.
