J. N. Kolb, a lifetime resident of this community was born February 3, 1859 on a farm in Oran township, Fayette County, Iowa, and went to his eternal reward August 29, 1943 at the age of 84 years, 6 months and 26 days. His wife preceded him in death October 28, 1937. Since then he has made his home with his only son, Frank and family. He leaves to mourn his death, one son Frank J. Kolb , and one daughter, Mrs. Genevieve Fettkether. A brother Albert and 13 grandchildren, all of this city, also survive. He was a carpenter by trade, and respected and loved by all who knew him.

Funeral services were held at Sacred Heart church, August 31, conducted by Rev. E. J. O'Hagen, burial being in Woodlawn Cemetery.
