Funeral services for Dr. R. J. Galvin will be held Tuesday mornng at Sacred Heart Church. The Rev. Paul J. LaValette will officiate at the 9:30 services and burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery.

The Oelwein physican, 53, died at his home Friday morning following a heart attack. His body will be at the Hintz Funeral Home until hour of services where the Holy Name Society will recite the rosary at 8 pm Sunday evening. Regular rosary will be said at the funeral home at 8 pm Monday. Knights of Columbus will say the rosary at 3 pm Sunday.

Born at Sumner, Dr. Galvin came to Oelwein with his family at an early age. He attended the Sacred Heart schools and received his degree in medicine at St. Louis University in 1924. He was a member of the county and state medical associations.

Survivors include his wife and five children; two boys, John and Thomas, and three daughters, Roberta, Ann Marie and Patricia all at home. Two brothers, George and Frank Galvin, Moline, Illinois, and four sisters, Mrs. Grace Devlin and Mrs. May Desham, Rochester, Minnesota, Mrs. Bill Werdell, Buffalo, New York, and Mrs. Pat Egan, Oelwein also survive.

He was born the son of John J. and Katherine McMahon Galvin at Sumner. He had practiced in Oelwein for over 20 years.
