Mrs. William (Sarah) Brownell

Mrs. William Brownell, mother of George Brownell, of this city, and a highly respected woman, one of the early settlers of this vicinity, died at the home of her son Frank a few miles southeat of the city, Friday. She had been in poor health for some time, but on Friday was able to walk around some but later in the day was taken worse and became unconscious and never rallied again. The remains were taken to Wisconsin, their old home, Monday, for burial. Our Stanley correspondent has a further notice of her death.

Stanley News

Mrs. William Brownell passed away last Sunday morning at the home of her son, Frank Brownell. She has been a great sufferer for sometime but was feeling some better last Friday, so much so that she was able to be out and walked around some but later in the day she was taken much worse and became unconscious and never rallied again. While her many relatives and friends mourn her loss, they mourn not as those who have no hope for she was an earnest christian woman and is only gone on to await their coming.

Oelwein Register , Oelwein, Iowa - May 25, 1897

The funeral of Mrs. William Brownell took place at the church last Tuesday, May 25th. The church was beautifully arranged with drapery and flowers. A good Christian neighbor and friend has gone from our midst but we trust she is now enjoying the bliss of an eternal home where there is no sickness or sorrow, where all is peace and joy. May we all live Christ like so that we may meet her again in that better home. Her remains were taken to Wisconsin for burial. Her children all went with her.
