Dorothy Brownell Metcalf (1906-1987)

Arlington - Dorothy Brownell Metcalf, 81, died December 23, 1987, at Torrance, CA. Burial was at Rose Hills Cemetery at Whittier, CA.

She was born at Stanley, on May 10, 1906, to Grant and Ada Manning Brownell. She spent her girlhood at Stanley and Oelwein and was graduated from Oelwein High School in 1924. Later that year, she and her mother went to California to live. She married Kenneth Metcalf. The couple lived in Idaho and and California and were the parents of one daughter, Joyce. She was a beautician by profession.

She is survived by one daughter, Joyce (Mrs. Charles) Carter, Torrance, CA; one grandson, Benjamin Carter, four years old and two sisters, Frances (Mrs. Arthur) Day, Arlington and Inez (Mrs. Glyde) Day, Lincoln, NE.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant son, an infant daughter, and two sisters, Ruth (Mrs. Ernest) Eschen in 1948 and Florence (Mrs. Jack) Clary in 1984.
