Selmer Reinertson

Services were conducted at the Schutte Funeral Home, Postville, Saturday, August 24 at 1:30 p.m. for Selmer T. Reinertson, who died August 22 at Community Memorial Hospital, Postville. The Rev. Larry Aaron officiated. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

Selmer T. was born March 31, 1913, in Fayette County, near Eldorado, Iowa, the son of Nels and Korena Houseland Reinertson. He was united in marriage to Alice Barness in Winneshiek County on March 27, 1935. The last 27 years he had spent farming near Clermont and was also employed as a night watchman at the Iowa Turkey Products plant in Postville. He had been attending the Spoken Word Mission at Winthrop.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two sisters, Laura and Anna, two grandsons, Scott Reinertson and Todd Harrington.

Survivors include his wife; seven sons, Kenneth of Fayette; Burdell of Eldora; David of West Union; Lyle of Sumner; Carmen of Postville and Randy and LeRoy, living at home; two daughters, Mrs. Darold (Arlene) Blaess of Decorah; Mrs. Fred (Lorraine) Harrington of Postville; 18 grandchildren; three brothers, Norman of Phoenix, Arizona; Paul of Manitowoc, Wisconsin and Lawrence of Waterloo; three sisters, Mrs. Pauline Parrish of Cedar Falls; Mrs. Sophie Vasby of Clermont and Mrs. Clarence (Clara) Kleppe of West Union.
