Emmaline Hoppes was born in Pittsbury, Pennsylvania, September 11, 1884* and departed this life Wednesday, March 7th at the age of 83 years, 5 months and 25 days. In early childhood she moved with her parents to Plymouth, Indiana where she grew to womanhood. In September 1868 she was united in marriage to James Gilson. To this union seven children were born, four sons and three daughters, four of whom survive, Mrs. A. L. Patrick of Bryantsburg, Henry of Independence, Iowa, Ross of Fairbank, Iowa, Ben of near Oelwein, Iowa.

She also leaves to mourn her death three half brothers; _ove Gilson of California, Bert of Oelwein, Iowa and Dick of Texas. Also ten grandchildren.

Funeral was Friday, March 9th at the home of the daughter, Mrs. Patrick of Byrantburg, Iowa at 1:00 pm and burial at Otsego cemetery, beside her husband. Rev. G. L Heiserman of Hazelton had charge of the funeral.
