Mrs. M. T. Rierdan born May 14, 1857, was the oldest in a family of ten children. Grew to womanhood on a farm near Westgate and was united in marriage to M. T. Rierdan May 16, 1889.

After their marriage lived for ___ years in Missouri and Colorado, coming back and living on his farm west of Hazleton. Moved to Hazleton 12 years ago where they have since resided. She has been in poor health for the past nine years, was taken down March 24 with pneumonia and heart trouble, other complications set in which caused her death May 23, 1916.

She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, six brothers, John McSweeny of Randalia, W. J. of Westgate, E. C. of Oelwein, P. L. of Oelwein, Frank of Northfield, Minnesota and James of Westgate; also three sisters, Mrs. J. N. Kolb, Mrs. James Quinn and Mrs. W. J. Brennan of Oelwein.

Last services from Catholic church at 10 a.m. on May 25 and interment in Hazleton cemetery.
