Mr. Bennett was born in Buchanan County, November 8, 1864, the son of Dewitt and Eleanor Woods Bennett.

Mr. Bennett is survived by one nephew, Emory Bennett; two nieces, Mrs. Guy Gillingham and Mrs. Blanche Whitney of Oelwein and another niece Mrs. Alice Sutherland, Chicago.

Funeral services for Fred Bennett were held at the Brant Funeral chapel Monday, September 8, 1952 at 2 p.m., with the Rev. L. W. Hauter of the First Presbyterian church in charge.

Mr. Bennett, a retired farmer, died Friday, September 5 at the age of almost 88 years. His daughter, Mrs. Ivan Hanson, who cared for him for many years, had preceded him in death by a few weeks. His wife had died 54 years ago. His granddaughter, Gwendolyn Hanson Casper, few from Bemidji, Minnesota, to attend the services.

Burial was in the Otsego cemetery southeast of town beside his wife. Casket bearers were E. B. Krammer, M. M. Frame, Ivan Seal, Don Rahe, Gordon Sanford and W. J. Duffy.
