A Funeral Mass for Ethel E. Wagner was held Thursday, Dec. 20, at Holy Name Catholic Church with the Rev. Dale Rausch as Mass celebrant.

Interment was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, rural West Union.

Burnham-Wood Funeral Home, West Union, was in charge of arrangements.

Ethel died of age-related causes on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007, at Maple Crest Manor in Fayette.

Born Jan. 7, 1922, in Waucoma to Blaine and Matilda (Musser) Danks, Ethel Elaine (Danks) Wagner attended Auburn and Waucoma schools.

She married Hubert Wagner in New Hampton in 1938. The couple farmed for a short time near Fort Atkinson. They then moved to West Union, where Ethel worked in the restaurant now known as Gus & Tony's Town House CafÈ. She then worked at F&M Grocery Store for a short time, but returned to the Town House and became a longtime employee there.

She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church in West Union.

In October 2002, Ethel became a resident of Maple Crest Manor in Fayette.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hubert; and a sister, Ruth Jach.

Ethel is survived by a son, Alfred (Karen) Wagner of Ames and two grandchildren.
