Hazel Reierson

Funeral services for Hazel Reierson were held Wednesday, March 6 at 11 a.m. in the West Clermont Lutheran Church in Clermont. Rev. Donald Loots officiated. Schutte Funeral Service, Clermont, was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in God's Acre Cemetery, Clermont.

Hazel Edna Reierson, daughter of Gilbert and Anna (Jacobson) Ostlie, was born January 28, 1895 on a farm north of Clermont. She died Sunday morning, March 3, 1991 in the Good Samaritan Center, West Union.

She was baptized March 13, 1895 by the Rev. Gjerstad and confirmed October 17, 1905 by the Rev Bursett. She attended the country school near her home.

She married Cornelius Olson February 16, 1915. The couple had 3 children, Harris Olson, Leslie Olson and Janet Olson. They farmed in the Clermont area for several years, then moved to Clermont where they were employed as custodians at the school. Mr. Olson died in 1942. Hazel had been employed as a housekeeper by the Larabee family and by Louise Miller.

On November 16, 1945 she married Ray Reierson, they lived in Clermont. Mr. Reierson died June 27, 1984. In 1986 she became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in West Union.

She is preceded in death by her husbands, Cornelius Olson and Ray Reierson, a son, Harris Olson; a daughter, Janet Brady, 3 brothers, Henry, Lloyd and Archie Ostlie and 6 sisters, Alma, Blanche, Ella, Helen, Clara and Gladys.

Surviving are a son, Leslie Olson, Fontana, WI, 6 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 2 stepsons, Vernon Reierson, Jacksonville, FL and Norris Reierson, Clermont; a stepdaughter, Helen Hunter, Albuquerque, NM; 4 step-grandchildren and 4 step-great grandchildren.

Casket bearers were Harry Amundson, Lloyd Schutte, Henry Follett, William Nelson, Jr., Millard Nelson, Jr., Vernon Anderson, Marion Olson, Donald Olson, Wayne Durscher and Art Helgerson.
