Elizabeth "Betty" Light, 92, of Heritage Nursing & Rehab Center, Cedar Rapids, formerly of Elgin, Iowa, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007.

Graveside services were held on Tuesday, Dec. 11, at Elgin Cemetery, Elgin, with the Rev. Rick Johnson officiating. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Elizabeth Louise Light was born Feb. 14, 1915, to Melbert and Myrtle (Halstenson) Kohler in Elgin.

Betty graduated from Elgin High school and attended Upper Iowa University.

On Oct. 16, 1938, she married Lyle Light in West Union.

Betty was active in her community, where she was a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church, Elgin, and a charter member of the Elgin Progress Club. She worked as a bookkeeper for her husband, Lyle, in the electrical, heating, and air-conditioning business. She also worked as a docent at Montauk in Clermont.

Preceding Betty in death were her husband, Lyle, and her parents.

Survivors include her daughter, Letha (Robert) Hamill of Cedar Rapids; two grandchildren; a great-grandson; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Methodist Church, 504 Main St., Elgin, IA or to the Alzheimer's Association, 1570 42nd St. NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402.
