Funeral services for Martha Jacobia, 96, of Elkader, formerly of Clermont, Iowa, were held Thursday, Dec. 13, after being postponed from Wednesday. The Rev. Rick Johnson officiated at the service, held at Schutte's Clermont Funeral Chapel in Clermont.

Interment was in God's Acre Cemetery, Clermont.

Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service, Clermont and Postville, was in charge of arrangements.

Martha died Sunday morning, Dec. 9, 2007, at Elkader Care Center following a brief illness.

Martha (Wedo) Jacobia was born Dec. 8, 1911, near Clermont. She was the daughter of Herman and Ida (Teepe) Wedo.

On Nov. 25, 1933, Martha was united in marriage with David Jacobia.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David; a son, Clarence Jacobia; five brothers, William "Bill", Ben, Fritz, Edward and Leslie Wedo; and two sisters, Bertha Gilbert and Agnes Ward.

Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Staake of St. Olaf; two grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
