Mrs. Paul Johansen, 61, died at 2 a.m. Friday, Nov. 12, at the West Union hospital, after an illness of a few days, following many years of ill health. The family home is in Dover township, four miles northeast of West Union, Iowa.

The funeral was conducted from the Burnham funeral home by the Rev. G. W. Ukena at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

As Clara May Huston, the daughter of Bryson and Margaret Hutson, she was born at Marble Rock in Mitchell county April 1, 1882. When a young girl she moved with her parents to Auburn in Fayette county, and has resided in this vicinity all the rest of her life.

She was married March 15, 1903, to Paul E. Johansen. They became the parents of three sons and four daughters.

After being in failing health for years she became alarmingly ill, and spent the last few days of her life in West Union hospital, where she died Nov. 12 at the age of 61 years, seven months, and 11 days.

She is survived by her husband; four daughters--Frances, Mrs. Max Matt, West Union, Florence, Mrs. Arthur Bevins, Highland Park, Ill.; Eva, Highland Park, Ill; Pauline, at home; two sons, Carl and Howard, both of West Union; 10 grandchildren; three brothers--Charles Huston, Portage, Wis.; Allen Huston, Rice Lake, Wis.; and Grover Huston, Seattle, Wash. One son, Raymond, one grandchild, and two brothers had preceded her in death.
