Fred C. Mittelstadt, well known Eldorado, Iowa, resident, was stricken with a heart attack last Wednesday morning and died at 10:45 that evening. He had been up and around previous to that day.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday by his pastor, the Rev. William A. Foege, at St. Peter Lutheran church, with burial in the church cemetery.

Born Sept. 14, 1870, he was almost 73 years of age. His parents were Frederich Mittelstadt and Hannah (Reisner) Mittelstadt, of Dover township. Soon after birth he received baptism. He was confirmed in the Lutheran church of Windsor township. On April 13, 1889, he married Miss Emma Pape, their children being Henry Mittelstadt, and Hannah, Mrs. John Meyer, both of the Eldorado community, who with their mother survive. His surviving brothers and sisters are Mrs. Rollie Granger, Hawkeye; George, William, and Louis Mittelstadt of West Union; and Henry of Minneapolis. He also has five grandchildren, and many other relatives.

Mr. Mittelstadt farmed most of his life two miles northeast of Eldorado, he and Mrs. Mittelstadt moving to Eldorado in 1924. He never was strong of body, but was an energetic worker. While for many years he suffered a great deal physically, he seldom made mention of it. His was a quiet nature, deriving much strength from his religion. He faithfully and quietly performed his duties in the church, serving for 10 years as janitor, and worshipping regularly unless physically unable. He more than carried his share of financial obligations connected with his church, and while he said little about his gifts he had made unusually liberal donations to his home church and to the orphans' home at Waverly.
