Frederick Thompson

Fredrick "Tommy" E. Thompson, 87, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, March 9, at Parkview Nursing & Rehab Center.

He was born on April 18, 1916 in Clermont, son of John H. and Marguarite Wells Thompson. He married Dorothy E. Leistikow on July 13, 1946 in Waterloo, Iowa.

Mr. Thompson was a U.S. Army veteran serving during WW II in Germany at the Battle of the Bulge. Tommy was a welding specialist for 31 years at Koehring Company, retiring in 1980. He was a member of the VFW in Waverly.

He is survived by his wife, 1 son, Robert L. (Nancy) Thompson of Laughlin, Nevada, and 4 step grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Richard J. and Dwayne J. Thompson; 4 sisters, Anna Fitz, Mildred Muchow, Bessie Odekirk, Esther Dreier.

Private family services will be held at a later date with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by Becker-Chapman American Legion Post #138 and VFRW Post 1623. The Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel of Kimball is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church.
