Death of Mrs. C. W. Strong
Elivina O. Talcott was born in Madison, Lake county, Ohio, June 20, 1837 - the ninth child in a family of 13. About 19 years later she came to Fayette county in the company of her sister, Mrs. Philander Davis, and family and taught school for a term or two in Highland township, Clayton county. While here, she met Charles W. Strong, to whom she was united in marriage, Dec. 24, 1858. She made his home bright for 49 happy years, all of which were spent in Illyria.
At 8 o'clock in the evening April 5, 1908 in the 71st year of her age, she heard the call to the great beyond, meeting it with the serene courage which was characteristic of her. She leavs a devoted husband, two daughers - Mrs. F. E. Talcott of Maynard and Mrs. F. M. Baldwin of Hazelton, one son, C. L. Strong of Illyria, four grandchildren and a little great-grandson to perpetuate her memorin in the hearts of the friends and relatives who mourn her loss. Twice had the death angel visited her family circle, taking first an infant daughter, Clara and later the second daughter, Mary, who was married to L. V. Humphrey in 1884, and died Oct. 2, 1887.
Mrs. Strong's personality was one that cannot soon be forgotten. Her cheerfulness, her warm-hearted hospitality and self-forgetting sympathy, made her home a place to be long remembered by her dear ones and neighbors, who hope through the bountiful grace of our Lord, Jesus Christ, to meet her again in the "Land that is fairer than day."
Mother dear mother we shall miss you here.
Miss your dear form and yours words of cheer
Always so ready our trials to share
None can e'er fill thy vacant chair.
Gone from this world of sorrow and pain
There with the dear ones we will meet you again,
Waiting for us on that Heavely shore,
Where these sad partings shall never be more.CARD OF THANKS
