Word has just been received of the death of Edward M. Brown, occurred at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. H. White, at Venice, California. He was 90 years of age and a veteran of the Civil War. Mr. Brown was one of the early pioneers of Oelwein and for many years lived at Otsego before Oelwein was established and incorporated. He grew to manhood in this vicinity and made his home until nine years ago when he went to California to make his home with his daughter. Mrs. J. W. Gibbons, 213 Third Avenue, N. W. in this city is another daughter of Mr. Brown. He carried his membership in the G. A. R. in the post at Hazleton. While no funeral arrangements have yet been announced it is thought, more than likely the body will be brought to Oelwein and buried in the Otsego cemetery beside his wife, who was buried there several years ago.
