Funeral services for James D. Scott, 69, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of West Union, Iowa, were held Monday, Nov. 26, at Burnham-Wood Funeral Home in West Union. The Rev. Galen Smith officiated. Interment was in the West Union Cemetery.

James died of lung cancer on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007, at Silver Pines Assisted Living in Cedar Rapids.

Burnham-Wood Funeral Home, West Union, handled the arrangements.

James Donald Scott was born Feb. 24, 1938, in West Union. He was the son of Donald and Clara (Anderson) Scott.

He graduated in 1955 from West Union High School and later from Coe College in Cedar Rapids.

James served his country with the United States Air Force from 1960 to 1966. Following his discharge from the service, he worked in the Cedar Rapids area. Before he became ill, James was employed as a courier for a news service.

After he was diagnosed with lung cancer earlier this year, he became a resident of Silver Pines Assisted Living in Cedar Rapids.

Preceding James in death were his parents.

James is survived by a sister, Barbara Oldenburg of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Larry Scott of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; two nieces; a nephew; and a great-nephew.
