Keith Brugman, 76, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Hawkeye, Iowa, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2007, after a courageous battle with metastatic mesothelioma.

Services were held Thursday, Oct. 18, at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, with The Rev. Renee Lunemann of Our Lords's Church of Solon officiating.

Inurnment was in West Union Cemetery, West Union, with military rites performed by the American Legion Post 312 of Hawkeye.

Keith Brugman was born on Sept. 6, 1931, in Hartley, Ia. He was the son of Carl and Eva Olhausen Brugman.

After serving in the Navy from 1950 through 1954, Keith married Janice Marie Smith on Sept. 29, 1956, in Spencer. He worked in the fertilizer business for over 40 years and retired from Farm Service in 1995.

Keith was a member of the Methodist Church and the American Legion in Hawkeye.

Preceding him in death was a grandchild, Tiffany; two brothers, Jim Brugman and Karl Brugman.

In addition to his wife, Janice, survivors include three sons, Greg (Janice) Brugman of Solon, Tim (Roxane) Brugman of West Union, and Kurt (Becky) of Olathe, Kan.; seven siblings, Darrell, Wayne, Donna, Pat, Terry, Ronnie, and Connie; and nine grandchildren.
