Inurnment with grave side services and military honors by the Sheehan Olson American Legion Post of Clermont, will take place on Saturday, June 23, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at God's Acres Cemetery, Clermont, Iowa, with the Rev. Kathryn Campbell officiating.
Lyman L. Mitchell, 93, of Wilmette, Illinois, died Sunday, January 21, 2007, at Midwest Palliative and Hospice Care Center. Lyman was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on February 26, 1913, and he grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He received his undergraduate and law school degrees from the University of Iowa and was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. He then served in WW II in the Army Intelligence Special Services in London, England.
He was a partner in the law firm of Chapman and Cutler in Chicago for over 30 years and was an active member of the St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Evanston, an alderman in Evanston, president of the Wilmette Baseball Association, and was also a member of the Wilmette Lion's Club.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Janet Larrabee Mitchell; sons, Randy and Jeff; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Episcopal Church of the Savior in Clermont, IA or to a charity of your choice.
Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service of Clermont is in charge of local arrangements.
