JACOB FRIEDERICH

Jacob Friederich Interred At Elgin

Services were conducted Saturday, December 4, 1971 at 10:00 a.m. from the Apostolic Church, Elgin, for Jacob Friederich who died Thursday, December 2, two days after his 89th birthday, at the Good Samaritan Home in West Union. He had resided there almost a year. Pastors Paul and Bert Butikofer officiated.

Jacob Friederich, son of Fred and Rosina Saloisbeig Friederich was born December 4, 1882 at Grossafattern, Bern, Switzerland. At the age of 11, Jacob and six of his brothers and sisters accompanied their mother to America. They lived on a farm near Elgin where he attended a rural school near his home.

He was united in marriage to Ida Schneider April 24, 1918 at Canton, South Dakota. They started their married life on a farm east of Elgin and later moved to a farm west of Elgin where he lived until he retired in 1949. To this union 12 children were born.

Mr. Friederich was preceded in death by his wife, Ida, July 17, 1945, his son Alton, four brothers and four sisters and his parents.

He is survived by his children, Mrs. Orville (Alma) Berg, Clermont; Richard and Lester, Luana; Mrs. Leo (Dorothy) Foels and Raymond and George Friederich, Postville; Robert, Castalia; Jacob, Jr. and Mrs. Leslie (Fern) Kleppe, Elgin; James, and Mrs. Millard (Erma) Kamus, of West Union; 41 grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two sisters, Anna Schupbach and Bertha Lehman both of Elgin and many nieces and nephews.

Interment was in the Apostolic Cemetery, Elgin.
