MRS. CHARLES (Nettie Clough) Lee CRAWFORD

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, April 13, 1949, for Mrs. Nettie Crawford, 85, at the Schutte Funeral home. Rev. D. R. Ervin, Pastor of the Christian Church in Oelwin, officiated. Burial was in Rosehill Cemetery at Fredericksburg.

Nettie Clough, daughter of Robert and Nancy Clough, was born June 13, 1863 at Hydes Mills, Wisconsin. On February 19, 1880 at Lone Rock, Wisconsin she was united in marriage to Lewis Lee. To this union four daughters were born, Mrs. Bessie Nichols of Spooner, Wisconsin, Mrs. Beulah Nichols of Postville, Mrs. O. H. Alitz, (Blanche) of Oelwein and Mrs. Otto Nolting, (Gertrude) of Pine, Colorado. Her husband preceded her in death April 18, 1911.

Fifteen years later she married Charles Crawford of Grimes, where they made their home for a time. Later Mrs. Crawford, with her husband, moved to Oelwein and resided with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. O. H. Alitz. There Mr. Crawford passed away.

She passed away Sunday, April 10, 1949, at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Harva Miller near Postville. She had reached the age of 85 years. With her at the time of her death were her four daughters. Besides her daughters, she leaves to mourn her passing 10 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Edna Winn of Ossian, and Mrs. Hazel Kaufman of Houston, Texas; one brother, Harvey Clough, preceded her in death.
