TERRY ALLEN SCHOTT

Funeral services for Terry Schott were held Friday, February 22, 1991 at 1:30 p.m. in the West Clermont Lutheran church at Clermont. The Rev. Donald Loots officiated. Jani Rothlisberger sang "Colour My World", which had been sung at Terry and Jean's wedding in 1973. She also sang "Wind Beneath My Wings" and was accompanied by Janet Helgerson, organist. Schutte Funeral Service of Clermont was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in God's Acres Cemetery at Clermont, where military honors were conducted by the Sheehan-Olson American Legion Post No. 375 of Clermont.

Terry Allen Schott, son of Lawrence and Doris (Nyborg) Schott, was born February 4, 1950 at West Union, Iowa. He died Tuesday, February 19, 1991 at his home in Clermont, Iowa. He had reached the age of 41 years and 15 days.

He was baptized November 28, 1954 in the First Lutheran Church, rural Ossian, and graduated from Valley High School in 1968. Terry served in the U. S. Army from 1968 to 1970 during the Vietnam War, attaining the rank of Sergeant.

On October 6, 1973, he was married to Jean Wittenberger in the Community Presbyterian Church at Postville by the Rev. Dick F. Harberts. To this union three children were born. Terry was employed by the Matt Brothers, Inc. at Castalia for 17 years. For the past several years he has been employed by the City of Clermont.

Surviving are his wife, Jean, a daughter, Leah and two sons, Wade and Rydell, all at home; his parents, Lawrence and Doris Schott of Clermont; eight brothers, Larry, West Des Moines; Chuck and his wife, Betty, West Union; Jerry ("Joe"), Allen and Jerrel ("Ooger"), all of Clermont; Randy, Eau Claire, WI; Rick of Elgin, IA; and Tim of Waterloo, IA; six sisters, Sue and her husband, Loras Matt, Colesburg, IA; Barb and her husband, Larry Wolfs of Cresco, IA; Marsha and her husband, Randy Wiedenhoff, and Kristy Schott, all of Clermont, Cheryle and her husband, Leo Monroe, Ossian; Deanna and her husband, John Pritchard, Cedar Falls, IA; his paternal grandmother, Ruth Schott of Clermont and his maternal grandmother, Vera Sutter of Cedar Rapids.

Terry was a member of the Clermont Fire Department and the Sheehan-Olson American Legion Post No. 375 of Clermont.

Casket Bearers were Phil Ruckdaschel, Dave Schneider, Mike Helgerson, Bob Schott, Roger Kleppe, Ernie Helgerson, Ron Soppe, Keith Wander and Jeff Koehn.
