FRED LOUIS SCHOTT

Fred Louis Schott, was born Fritz Johann, to Lorenz and Mary Poppenhagen Schott, on July 2, 1903, in Bethel township, Fayette county.

He passed away at his home, in his sleep, on October 19, 1964, at the age of 61 years, three months and 17 days.

He was baptized on August 16, 1903 in the Zion Lutheran Church near Hawkeye. He spent his childhood and school days on a farm near Hawkeye. He attended Bethel and Turkey Valley schools.

He was united in marriage to Ruth Entwisle on May 14, 1927 at Hawkeye. To this union seven children were born. They are Marvin and Duane of Elgin, Lawrence of West Union, Arthur and Jane (Mrs. Ernest Helgerson) of Clermont, and Willis and Garry at home.

They farmed in the Hawkeye and West Union vicinity. In 1948 they purchased their farm near Clermont.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mrs. Lizzie Homewood; one brother, John; and one grandson, Dennis.

He is survived by his wife; seven children; 30 grandchildren; one brother, Will of West Union; three sisters, Esther (Mrs. Martin Baumler) of Burr Oak; Elsie (Mrs. Bob Branzen) of Independence; and Mrs. Frieda Entwisle of West Union; nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and relatives.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 21, 2:00 p.m., at Elgin with services conducted by Rev. Rumppe of the Wesleyan Methodist Church of West Union. Burial was in God's Acre's cemetery at Clermont.
