Mrs. Ole (Hilda Ostlie) Aanes

Funeral services were conducted at the East Clermont Lutheran Church last Saturday for Mrs. Hilda Aanes, who passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Louie Hovland on June 28. Dr. S. J. Strandjord of St. Olaf conducted the rites.

Mrs. Hilda Aanes, daughter of Lars and Karine Ostlie, was born September 20, 1861 in Grand Meadow township, Clayton county. She passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Louie Hovland on June 28 at the age of 88 years.

She was baptized and confirmed in the East Clermont Lutheran Church. As far as known she was the last surviving member of the first class confirmed in the present church.

On November [here the obit is tore, but I can make out the number 1 but not the other number], 1881 she was married in the same church to Ole Aanes. To this union six children were born, three of whom survive the passing of their mother.

Besides giving these children a fine home, she also took two grandchildren into her home upon the death of their mother, Clara, namely Milo Halverson and Harold Sticken and cared for them. In 1947 she was presented a life membership in the W. M. F. by the East Clermont Sewing Circle.

Mrs. Aanes was preceded in death by her husband, Ole, three children, Alma, Elliot and Clara (Mrs. H. J. Sticken); two sisters, Mrs. Christine Kittleson, and Mrs. Mary Lien and one brother, Gilbert Ostlie. Left to mourn her passing are her three children, Amy (Mrs. Louie Hovland), Dr. Almer Aanes of Red Wing, Minnesota; and Lloyd Aanes of Clermont. Also two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Olson and Mrs. Thomas Lien and 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
