ARLINGTON - Funeral services for Lyal Ulry MacTaggart will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, at the United Methodist Church, Arlington, with the Rev. Laurie Riley officiating. Burial will be in Cass Township Cemetery, Strawberry Point. Friends may call from 3 until 8 p.m. Monday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Arlington, and one hour before services at the church Tuesday.
Mr. MacTaggart, 97, died Friday afternoon, Sept. 5, 1997, at the Lantern Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Coralville, after a short illness.
He was born June 12, 1900, in Lamberton, Minn., the son of Duncan and Elfie (McKinniss) MacTaggart. He married Nesta G. Hall on March 30, 1922, in Manchester. The couple farmed for many years near Strawberry Point and Arlington. Mr. MacTaggart was a member of the Arlington United Methodist Church, Strawberry Point Masonic Lodge #130 A.F. & A.M., and the Scottish Rite.
Survivors include one daughter, Faye (Marvin) Chevalier of Iowa City; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nesta, July 15, 1993; four brothers, Willoughby, Glenn, Everett and Floyd; and one sister, Inez Mitchell.
