FAYETTE - Memorial services for Hubert Adam Kiel will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday, June 19, at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Fayette, with the Rev. Thomas Biatek officiating. Friends may call from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The body was cremated.
Mr. Kiel, 71, died Wednesday evening, June 11, 1997, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Iowa City, following a lengthy illness.
He was born July 5, 1925, in rural Fayette County. He graduated from Fayette High School in 1943. Mr. Kiel served in the U.S. Army as an M.P. in Germany from 1945 until 1946. When he returned to Iowa, he farmed in the Fayette area, retiring in 1989. He also served as a policeman for the City of Maynard. He was very active in the 4-H club and enjoyed flying his plane and motorcycle riding.
Survivors include one son, Doug of Fayette; one daughter, Pam Kiel of Ventura; and one sister, Lois (Clarence) Schuchman of Hawkeye.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
