Sophie attended the Woodland School in Clermont Township. She was baptized in the East Clermont Lutheran Church and confirmed at the West Clermont Lutheran Church. As a young woman she worked a time as a clerk at Lubke's Store in Clermont.

September 23, 1924 she married Walter Follett. They had five children: Lorraine (Kenton Krueger), Elgin; Betty (William) Andres, Bonita Springs, Fla.; Henry (Karen) Follett, Clermont; Marilyn (Edward) Waters, Overland Park, KS, and Carolyn (Larry) Schatz, Lewistown, Penn.. Sophie lived on the Follett farm from 1924 until 1958, when she and Walter moved to their retirement home in Clermont. Walter died December 28, 1966.

Sophie was active in church work and taught Sunday School for years. She became a member of both the Order of Eastern Star and Sheehan-Olson Unit of the American Legion Auxiliary in 1924. She was also a member of the Clermont Study Club, the Clermont Ladies Aid and the Clermont Historical Society.

In 1970 she married to Merwin Doughty, who died in 1973, and in 1975 she married Martin Green. Sophie and Martin traveled extensively during their 12 years of marriage and visited 49 of the 50 states.

She was preceded in death by her three husbands, Walter, Merwin, and Martin; her parents, Albert and Alma Anderson, a daughter, Lorraine Krueger, three brothers, Glenard, Vernon, and Harvey Anderson, two sisters, Viola Swenson and Lillian Peters, a daughter-in-law, Beverly Follett, two sons-in-law, Kenton Krueger and William Andres, a grandson, Bryan Schatz, and a great grandson, Jeffrey Roberts.

Sophie was an industrious person all of her life. After Walter died she went to night school and passed her GED test to receive a High School Diploma. Soon she found employment with Northeast Iowa Community Action, as a homemaker, working with housebound elderly people.

Sophie lived in her own home until August of 1998, when she moved to the Good Samaritan Home in West Union. She made the transition to a new living arrangement as she had adjusted to new situations throughout her life. She said, "This is just another change. I can handle this one too."
