OELWEIN - Funeral services for Donald Lawrence Davis will be 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 19, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oelwein, with the Rev. Frederick C. Fangmann officiating. Burial will be in Wadena Cemetery, Wadena. Friends may call from 3 until 9 p.m. Thursday at the Hintz-Geilenfeld Funeral Home, Oelwein, where there will be a scripture service at 7 p.m.
Mr. Davis, 58, died Tuesday afternoon, Sept.16, 1997, at Oelwein Mercy Hospital of Franciscan Sisters, from Lou Gehrig's disease (ALS).
He was born March 30, 1939, in Dubuque, the son of Lawrence and Loretta M.(Hazer) Davis. He graduated from West Union High School and attended Hawkeye Tech in Waterloo. On Nov. 8, 1958, he married Jeraldine (Jerri) Westcott at St. Joseph's
Catholic Church in Wadena. Mr. Davis worked for Chamberlain Manufacturing from 1965 until they closed in 1994. He then worked at D.C. Industries in Waterloo. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Jerri; one daughter, Julie (Rick) Trebon of Wadena; one son, Donald (Allison) of Hazleton; three grandchildren; his mother, Loretta M. Davis of Oelwein; and one sister Lorraine Foster of Fairbank.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence and a brother, Gerald.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
