OELWEIN - Funeral services for Doris Vivian Roberts will be 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 4, at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein, with the Rev. Frederick C. Fangmann officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home where there will be a parish scripture service at 7 p.m.
Mrs. Roberts, 82, died Thursday morning, July 31, 1997 at her son's home in Oelwein after a long illness.
She was born Nov. 23, 1914, in Maynard, the daughter of George W. and Jessie E. Beckner Meyers. She graduated from, Maynard High School. She married Wayne LeRoy Roberts in 1935. The couple moved to Oelwein. Mrs. Roberts was a cashier at the Grand Theatre and had been a clerk at the Liquor Store, both in Oelwein.
Survivors include one son, Terry (Lois) of Oelwein; 8 grandchildren; 16 grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Wayne, Jan. 20, 1972; two brothers, John and George Meyers; three sisters; Grace Gatenbein, Ruby Shaeffer and Helen Butters; and a ganddaughter, Debra.
A memorial fund has been established for Heart of Iowa Hospice in West Union.
