OELWEIN - Funeral services for Wanda Lillian Stolfus will be 2 p.m Wednesday, June 17, at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein with the Rev. LaVerne H. Streich officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 1 until 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Stolfus, 83, died Friday morning, June 12, 1998, at the gravesite of her late husband, Jack R. Stolfus, after a sudden illness.
She was born Feb. 6, 1915, at Waverly, the daughter of James Gordon and Ida Mae (Sell) Sewell. She moved with her family to Oelwein in 1919. On Jan. 5, 1935, she married Jack Richard Stolfus at Independence. Mrs. Stolfus was a homemaker and longtime Oelwein resident, where she was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Oelwein American Legion Auxiliary for more than 30 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Ann (Ray) Holloway of Mission, Texas, and Sharon Kay Woods of Oelwein; one son, James Richard (Joan) of Des Moines; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Kenneth (Darlene) Sewell of Oelwein.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack, April 18, 1997; one grandson, Jack Daniel Woods; a son-in-law, Richard Woods; and two brothers, Wilbert and James Sewell.
