OELWEIN - Funeral services for Marvin A. Hines will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, at the Hintz-Geilenfeld Funeral Home, Oelwein, with the Rev. Mark Beesley officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein.
Friends may call from 3 until 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Hines, 66, died at his home Sunday, Oct 12, 1997, after a lengthy illness.
He was born July 10, 1931, in Oelwein, the son of Almond and Lylas (Carnical) Hines. He attended school in Oelwein and joined the U.S. Army in 1948. On May 16, 1953, he married Bonnie (LaVonnie) Ames in McGregor. Mr. Hines worked for Morgan Feed Co., Northwestern Distributing Co., and then joined Carpenter and Construction labor union in Waterloo. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and American Legion Ross Reid Post 9, both of Oelwein.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie; one son, Allen (Pam) of Watkins; one daughter, Vickie (John) Howe of Prairie du Chien, Wis.; three grandchildren; and his mother, Lylas Hines of Oelwein.
He was preceded in death by his father, Almond; and two sisters, Lela and Evelyn.
A memorial fund has been established.
