John Schneider was born Nov. 6, 1895, and died Dec. 26, 1945, at the age of fifty years. Death came at the Postville hospital after but a few days illnes. John was the son of Ben and Rosa Schneider, and spent all his life in the community of Elgin where, after attending rural school, he engaged in farming.

March 24, 1926, John Schneider and Selma Baechler were united in marriage. To their union was born one son, Gerald. These mourn the early loss of husband and father.

Others surviving the death of a loved one are his aged father and seven brothers and sisters. These are Louise (Mrs. Gottfried Pfister), Minnie (Mrs. Otto Daniels), Mollie (Mrs. Eli Schneider), Sam, Emil and Ben Schneider and Elizabeth Schneider. Nineteen nieces and nephews and four grand nieces and nephews also survive.

For those whose hearts are wounded and aching we claim the promise of God to "seek ye the Lord while He may be found" and you will find him near.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Baptist church conducted by Rev. P. F. Zoschke. Brief services were held at the home at 1:40. Burial was in the Apostolic cemetery, east of Elgin.
