Glen Reierson
Funeral services for Glen Reierson were held Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the East Clermont Lutheran Church, rural Clermont, Iowa. The Reverend Jerome Godson officiated. The organist was Otter Dreaming. The Honorary Casket Bearers were: Clarence Reierson, Darlene Abel, Donald Reierson, Robert Reierson, Kenneth Staff, Curtis Staff, Keith Johnson, Keith Wander. The Casket Bearers were: Julie Andera & John Dybvik, Glenda & Allen Bodensteiner, Jeffrey & Carol Reierson, Jaclynn & Rick Trumm, Jarrod Bodensteiner, Trey Bodensteiner. Burial was in the Church Cemetery with Military Honors by the Elgin Legion Post No. 352. The Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service of Clermont was in charge of arrangements.
Glen Louis Reierson was born April 30, 1928, in Fayette County, near Clermont, Iowa, to Ole M. And Marie Ann (Martie) Reierson. He passed away Saturday, April 29, 2006, in Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, Wisconsin, at the age of 77 years, 11 months, and 29 days.
Glen was baptized and confirmed in the East Clermont Lutheran Church, where he has been a life time member. He attended the country school near his home and the Elgin High School. Glen entered the U. S. Army and served until his release in 1955. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.
He was married to Shirley Ann West On April 21, 1956, in the Lutheran Church at Elgin, Iowa. To this union four children were born. They farmed near Elgin. Glen’s specialty was raising Brown Swiss Cattle, and his herd produced a grand champion as well as several prize-winning animals. Glen was a member of the State and National Brown Swiss Association.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley, three daughters, Julie (John Dybvik) Andera, Cresco, IA, Glenda (Allen) Bodensteiner, Postville, and Jaclynn (Rick) Trumm, Elgin, IA, and a son, Jeffrey (Carol) Reierson, also of Elgin, eight grandchildren, Kelsey Andera, Jarrod and Trey Bodensteiner, Kristen, Sara, and Leah Reierson, and Megan and Madeline Trumm.
Also surviving are three brothers, Clarence (Mavis) Reierson, Walker, IA, Donald Reierson, Elgin, IA, and Robert (Mary) Reierson, Postville, IA, and a sister, Darlene Abel, Belle, MO.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Lydia (Levi) Molokken, two half brothers, Alphie Reierson and Orvin (Marion) Reierson, and two half sisters, Bernice (Melvin) Vick and Gladys (Bert) Bruckner.
